It’s so hard to lose weight. Could my thyroid be out of whack?

I get this question a lot. Although about 10% of women do have a thyroid disorder, which can cause weight gain, the vast majority of women (90%) can’t blame their thyroid. In any case, I’ve found it helpful to test my patients who seem to gain weight “overnight” for thyroid issues, because seeing the results in black and white helps with perspective. Many of my patients need to be reassured that it’s not their thyroid, so they can focus on the task at hand – eating healthier and exercising.See More

There are some good reasons for this seeming catastrophe. If you’re a woman, you might be nearing your period. Or, it could very well be all the water you’ve been drinking. If you’ve been exercising, you may have built up some…

Get Out!

Some days we’re blue. And on those days exercise is especially important. There’s nothing so bad that a nice walk won’t make it at least a little bit better. And if you have a Fido, take him along. He feels your pain.

I live in Lewisville TX, south of Denton. My friend Cathy went to your Lose to Gain meetings and lost 31 pounds. My question is how do I find a group like this here in the Dallas/Ft. Worth area?
