Mary Lou's Weigh Community

Hi! I want and need to lose weight but need some motivation!  Between 2005-2007 I lost 106 lbs.  Then I lost my dad and my husband got sick and I have since gained back at least half of what I lost.  I feel like a failure for that and have been trying to get back on track for some time now. I need a pep talk!  Thanks :) Rene

Hi Rene...I understand your need for outside motivation because its hard to stay positive all by yourself, all the time, so that's why we all need friends. I'd love to be your friend and try to help you stay motivated.  Hang in there, one day at a time and we'll both get there!

I am not doing too bad! I have been really working hard to get lots of walking in for exercise. I am trying to make better food choices but I am actually feeling like I have more energy and I have more motivation too! It is hard after you lose someone special in your life--that is when I really had trouble getting back on track. I feel like things are finally turning around. I appreciate all the comments and supportive words from you folks! Keep checking in--it helps :)

How have you been making out with your weight lost?  I just discovered the Mary Lou Weigh but need to read about the platform she promotes.  I understand about needing motivation.  I will check up on you again soon to see if you are satisfied with your progress.  I also loss my dad Sept. 11, 2011 and gardening partner Dec. 28, 2010.  I need to start finding reasons to be health instead of using reasons to not be healthy.

Thanks for the encouragement! I have lost 3 lbs. and am trying to take a day at a time.  Talking to family and friends helps and I do like the accountability!  The 10 lbs. at a time helps too :)

Hi Rene,

I am glad you are taking the right steps into wanting a healthy lifestyle. It is hard to keep up with your weight sometimes due to stress, work, family emergencies...but the most important thing to remember is when you are healthy you are happy! We never know how much time we have on this planet, but we should live each day as if it were our last. With that said...try to walk in your neighborhood more. Ask friends or family to join you. It always helps to have friends hold you accountable when you are trying to reach a weight loss goal. Doing it 10 pounds at a time is also easier then telling yourself you want to lose 30 pounds. Taking each day slowly and mentally preparing yourself will give you the motivation to do it.  Try setting a future goal...plan an event for yourself. Say...I am going to throw myself a party for my new weight in 3 months. Even go as far as inviting people to meet you out that night...that will really help build your confidence and give you the motivation to get on the healthy track!

I hope this helps and we are all here anytime!
